Canucks Autism Network

Canucks Autism Network provides programs to children, youth, and adults on the autism spectrum and their families, while promoting acceptance and inclusion through community engagement and training initiatives across BC.

CAN delivers programs in Kamloops, Kelowna, on Vancouver Island, and in the Lower Mainland.

CAN’s impact in Kamloops started in 2016 with one weekly soccer program. Today, thanks to the support of groups like Warner Rentals Ltd, CAN supports 291 members and delivers the following programs in Kamloops:

  • Core sports & rec programs: Active, Multisport, Swim, Skate, Gymnastics

  • Summer camps

  • Monthly events for Autistic youth and adults

  • Year-round family events

CAN programs for children focus on building introductory sports skills, confidence, and friendships, whereas programs for youth and adults focus on life skills development, physical and mental health, employment and volunteering, and social connection.

CAN engages the community by delivering training and developing resources for a wide range of community groups including school staff, first responders, health practitioners, businesses, employers, rec providers, and sports coaches.

CAN dreams of a future where every individual on the autism spectrum is understood, accepted, and supported in all community spaces. With 1 in 32 children being diagnosed with autism in BC, the need for support is greater than ever.
